  2. Main elementsof the UK paper • 3rd generation of indicators • Same framework as the policy one • Wide range of dissemination tools • Better integration is needed • Expectations change over time • Use of aggregate indices ? • Better assess and communicate

  3. Main elementsof the OECD paper • Intense work since 1998 (frameworks, linkages, resources, etc..) • Core set of indicators • Conceptual and Statistical frameworks • Importance of inter-linkages • Necessity for common approaches

  4. Common features • Linkages: a keyword for SDI • Linkage to policy action • Linkage between indicators: a sound framework • Linkage to methodological work ➲ What is the way forward?

  5. Questions • Q1: What would be your recommendations to a country willing to start developing SDIs on how this development should be structured? • Q2: How to ensure a better involvement of official statisticians in the monitoring of SD Strategies?

  6. Questions (ctd.) • Q3: What is the way forward about highly-aggregated indicators of SD? Should not we also make a more intensive use of multi-variate statistical analysis? • Q4: Should official statisticians be involved in the assessment of SD trends?
