  1. Principles For Powerful Living 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

  2. 1. Watch; Be On the Alert • Satan - 1 Pet. 5:8-9; 2 Cor. 2:11; 1 John 2:16 • Temptation - Mark 14:38 • Apathy/Indifference - Rev. 3:1-3 • FalseTeachers - 2 Pet. 2:1; Acts 20:28-31 • TheLord’sReturn - Matt. 24:42-51

  3. 2. Stand Fast/Firm in the Faith • Soldiers of Christ are to stand their ground, not retreat (Eph. 6:10-11, 13). • We are not to be “carried about with every wind of doctrine” (Eph. 4:14). • We are to stand fast and “hold the traditions” (2 Thess. 2:15). • Spiritual growth requires that we be settled and established in the elementary principles of the word of God (Heb. 5:12-6:2).

  4. 3. Be Brave; Act Like Men • The Corinthians needed to be told to act like men (adults), because they were shamefully acting like children (1 Cor. 3:1-2; 14:20). • They needed to be brave (2 Tim. 1:7). • Cowards have their place in the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8).

  5. 4. Be Strong • The Christian’s strength does not come from himself, but from his Lord. • “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Eph. 6:10). • “Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”(2 Tim. 2:1). • “Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power” (Col. 1:11).

  6. 5. Act In Love • Echoes Paul’s teaching on the superiority of love (1 Cor. 13). • Echoes the Lord’s teaching regarding the greatest command (Mark 12:29-31). • The other apostles placed a high premium on love (1 Pet. 4:8; 1 John 4:7).

  7. 5. Act In Love Love balances everything else in this list. • It keeps our watchfulness from becoming harsh judging of others. • It keeps our firmness from becoming hardness. • It keeps our courage from becoming harshness. • It keeps our strength from becoming arrogance.

  8. Principles For Powerful Living1 Corinthians 16:13-14 • Watch; Be on the Alert • Stand Firm in the Faith • Be Brave • Be Strong • Let Everything We Do Be Done In Love
