  1. Foodie Team 3 Adeeb, Arjun, Ayswarya, Karun, and Manisha

  2. Motivation • Sigh! Cooking turn at home  • Looking for a new way of cooking? • Why search for recipes and then look for ingredients? • Would it not be good to search for a recipe based on what you have at home? • …and there it was…The idea for our mobile application!

  3. What does this application do? • The user initially builds his inventory • When the user wants to search for a recipe, the application lets the user select specific stuff from the inventory and gives results based on what has been selected • What more? If the inventory does not have certain items that are needed for a particular recipe, the application points it out

  4. What is new? • Searching for recipes will no longer be boring • Recipes based on what you have • Can serve as a shopping assistant too because the application tells you what extra ingredients are needed for a particular recipe • Fun features to be included…

  5. Any similar applications? • 3rd February 2011 became an unfortunate day for us. An iPhone application was released similar to our idea • But, Android does not have such an application yet! 

  6. How will the main features work? • Where will the application get the recipes from? • Initial idea was to do a web search and parse the resulting HTML files. Process is very tedious • Recipe databases. User installs separate recipe databases (like American cuisine, Chinese cuisine, Indian cuisine) • Have a server that can be queried. The server gets the recipes based on the query from different websites, parses, and returns customized results to the application

  7. …Continued • More Features • Email your shopping list • Share a recipe with your friend • Share what you just cooked with your friends on Facebook and/or Twitter

  8. Risks Involved • Recipe querying • Server Vs. On-Application databases. Querying a server requires time because the server has to query websites, build a custom list of recipes, and then return it to the application • Using a database on the application will be relatively faster. But a pretty large database has to be built!

  9. ...A Little More • UX Design • Adding to the inventory should not be a very tedious process. UI should be very user friendly
