Prewriting Prewriting begins when you start to think of ideas that you would like to use in your writing. This is the stage where you will explore many ideas. Many of which you will not use.
Drafting Drafting is the transforming of thoughts, words, and phases into sentences and paragraphs. During drafting you will have new ideas and make connections between ideas. Some will even decide to change their topic.
Revising The writers goes over the draft, making changes in its content, organization, and style in order to improve it. Some techniques include: adding, elaborating, deleting, combining, and rearranging text.
Editing/Proofreading Where the revised draft is checked for standard usage, varied sentence structure, and appropriate word choice. Check for grammar, spelling and punctuation errors. Use proofreading symbols to mark the changes. (They are above the SmartBoard).
Publishing/Presenting The preparation of a finished piece of writing, often involving available technology, so that it can be presented to a larger audience. Will be turning into your teacher, presenting to the class, or taking home to your parents.
