LAX- Monday (188), Wednesday (168) ; 1200-1800 hours (377) ; Increase in Abandoned luggage; Bomb K-9 Calls, Accessing Restricted Areas; 6 SARS at hotels near airport – suspicious package; gun magazines found in room; asking security questions Central- Thursdays and Fridays (33) each, 1200-1800 hours (83); Downtown Area, Financial District 39 SARs in RD of US Bank Tower; 19 SARs at US Bank Tower; 4 at Bonaventure Hotel, 5 at Grand hotel; Questions about Security West LA – Mon (15) and Thurs (15); 1200- 1800 hours (33); RD 0839 Century Blvd Business District (Ave of the Stars) had 16 SARS; SARS include surveillance at Jewish High Schools; Synagogues; Threats to Hotels via phone calls in Business Districts – Ave of the Stars; Vandalism to Jewish Business; Suspicious packages mailed to businesses (jewish) containing powder; IP overheard saying he was paid to kill Obama; threatening phone call from pay phone stating Saudi Arabian national would kill Sarah Palin.     10. Hollywood Area Detective receives information from an informant source that a local merchant is selling illegal weapons out of his store. CIS conducts several undercover operations to acquire illegal high caliber assault weapons. Arrested foreign national for 122.80 A(1) PC – Transportation of an assault weapon; and 550 PC -Insurance fraud; and a recovery of a large cache of weapons.     11. Thumb drive found in article of clothing at a local cleaners Employee decided to see what was on the thumb drive. It contained photos of the Burbank Airport of security areas, check points, gates, etc. The photos did not have aesthetic value and some seemed to be taken at waist level. He called police to report. They view the thumb drive. Investigation reveals that Burbank Airport Security had done their own red-teaming. Realized they had lost the thumb drive. Were glad to get it back. Success – because the cleaner’s employee had the initiative to make the call and report the SAR.
