  2. Locations The SC Works Trident Centers are your one stop location for all of your employment needs.   3. What is WIA? The is a federally funded employment and training program. Workforce Investment Act (WIA) • The WIA benefits those who are: • The program assists customers with: • Under-Employed • Developing workforce opportunities • Unemployed • Accessing training • Managing career choices • Dislocated Worker * * A dislocated worker is someone who has lost, or will lose, their job as a result of a layoff or company closure.   4. What can the program offer me? • The WIA program offers: • Three Levels of Service: Core, Intensive and Training • Tuition and Book Payment Assistance • WorkKeys Assessment • National or SLED Background Check • Drug Screenings • Uniforms, Supplies or Tools Website: www.tridentscworks.org

Core Services • Access to the Resource Room which provides: Labor Market Information, Printers, Copiers, Fax Machines • Access to WorkKeys Assessments • Free Typing Test • Job/ Career Fairs • Job Search Resources • Applicant Pre-Screening for Employers • Workshops Website: www.tridentscworks.org

  6. Intensive Services • Individual Assessment Identifies Skills, Knowledge and Abilities • WIA Enrollment • Case Management Services • Job Clubs • Review Receipt of Information/ Service Agreement Form • Maintain monthly contact with your Workforce Specialist Website: www.tridentscworks.org

Training Services • Types of WIA Training Include: On-The-Job Training (OJT), Educational Training (GED), Occupational Skills Training • To qualify for training services you must be determined as needing training to do the following: • Retain current employment, or • Gain new employment Website: www.tridentscworks.org

Training Services High School Diploma or GED, WorkKeys Assessment, National/SLED Background Check, Drug Screen • Requirements for Occupational Skills Training: Training is limited to those occupations which fall within the Target Industry Clusters approved in the TWIB Five Year Strategic Plan. If you are approved for training we will need copies of your: Attendance Records Grade Reports Certificate of Completion Website: www.tridentscworks.org

  9. Training Clusters Training Clusters are occupations that are grouped together into a category (cluster) and approved by the Trident Workforce Investment Board for training. The Approved Clusters are: • Manufacturing • Transportation & Logistics • Biomedical and Medical • Information Technology Services • Specialty Trade Contractors Website: www.tridentscworks.org

Next Steps • Fill out all the forms in your WIA application packet • Complete SCOIS assessments and print-out the results • Return your application plus the attached results from your SCOIS assessments to the Front Desk * • * If you are eligible for the program then you will need to complete a TABE assessment at a participating Adult Education testing location Once you have turned in your application you will be contacted by an Eligibility Workforce Specialist at a later date to schedule an appointment.
