  9. *PRAYER OF CONFESSION(unison) God of Truth and Honor, we long to sing praises to you, but too often our hearts and our actions are singing praises to other gods.

  10. Ignoring You and your unconditional love, we look to our money, our homes, our jobs, our abilities or other things to find satisfaction. We spend our time working for those things and not for you.

  11. They become the true gods in our lives, not you. Please forgive us. Break the hold these “gods” have on us, Merciful One. Grant us the strength to look only to you and to worship only you.

  12. Heal our hearts and help our voices sing you praises. (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)

  13. ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Sisters and brothers, in Jesus the Christ, God has overcome sin, broken its hold on you. Know that in Christ’s resurrection power you are freed from sin and you are forgiven. Go and sin no more.

  14. ASSURANCE OF PARDON P: Thanks be to God for freedom from sin and for the cleansing of our hearts. Amen and amen.

  15. PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST L: Peace be with you. P: And with you also. L: Now is the time to share Christ’s love and forgiveness with one another. Greet one another with signs of peace and reconciliation.

  19. Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. They are like trees planted by streamsof water,

  20. which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.

  21. SCRIPTURE READING: Acts 16:23-34

  22. After they had given them a severe flogging, they threw them into prisen and ordered the jailer to keep them securely. Following these instructions, he put them in the innermost cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul andSilas were prayingand singing hymnsto God,

  23. and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was an earthquake, so violent that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened. When the jailer woke up andsaw the prisondoors wide open,

  24. he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, since he supposed that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted in a loud voice, ‘Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.’ The jailer called for lights, and rushing in, he fell down trembling beforePaul and Silas.

  25. Then he brought them outside and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They answered, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’ They spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.

  26. At the same hour of the night he took them and washed their wounds; then he and his entire family were baptized without delay. He brought them up into the house and set food before them; and he and his entire household rejoiced that he had becomea believer in God.

  27. L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!
