  2. Tactical EMS Summit 2014 Objectives…. • review the TEMS curriculum development process • discuss further TEMS curriculum development • discuss proposed TEMS instructor qualifications • discuss development of a TEMS instructor network

Tactical EMS Summit 2014 TEMS curriculum development process… • WHEPP funded development of TEMS curriculum • WIDS (Worldwide Instructional Design Systems) contracted to develop curriculum • started TEMS curriculum development Oct. 2012 • decision to develop TEMS/TECC Awareness course only – initially

  4. Tactical EMS Summit 2014 TEMS curriculum development process… • took current TEMS /TECC curriculum and placed it in the new (WIDS) course design • WIDS is a competency-based (course outcome summaries) process • “learner-centered” versus “teacher-centered”

  5. Tactical EMS Summit 2014 TEMS curriculum development process… • TEMS /TECC Awareness course completed Nov. 2012 • working group reviewed/revised course content • curriculum approved and completed summer 2013 • curriculum posted for all training programs to utilize

Tactical EMS Summit 2014 TEMS curriculum development process… • delivery of TEMS training through WTCS will be done as either: • ACE (Adult Continuing Education) (47-531-XXX) or • contracted training through a college’s business development office (conference/seminar, etc.) • decision is based on reimbursement requirements • cost recovery • grant-supported

Tactical EMS Summit 2014 TEMS instructor development process… • instructor requirements are the same for either process • differs from “normal” college requirements • based on the “unique qualifications” of the instructor(s) needed for a TEMS training program (i.e. EMS/Law Enforcement instructor licensure and/or certification)

Tactical EMS Summit 2014 TEMS instructor development process… • recommended TEMS instructor accrediting agency: • Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) • recommended licensing / credentialing agencies: • Wisconsin Department of Health Services – EMS program • Wisconsin Department of Justice – Training & Standards • Wisconsin Technical College System

Tactical EMS Summit 2014 TEMS instructor development process… • current courses conducted by existing instructors identified at program inception • future process will include identification, vetting and continued verification of TEMS instructors • an “instructor network” will need to be created and managed as TEMS program goes forward • comprehensive list of SME’s, etc.

Tactical EMS Summit 2014 Officer / Operator Self-Aid / Buddy Aid Course • Lead Instructor • WI EMS Instructor II (paramedic)* and • WI DOJ-LESB (IDC) certified instructor* and • completion of 40 hour TEMS course and • completion of Operator-level Train-the-Trainercourse (*qualified instructors from both disciplines are required. Lead instructor can either be one person or two persons to meet this requirement)

Lead instructor can either be one person or two persons to meet this requirement)
