  2. http://youtu.be/_YRyrmeo1A4 Assault on All Supply Lines When WWI started in 1914, the United States wanted no part in it. They vowed to stay neutral. American industries made and shipped war supplies to Europe, and Germany didn’t like it. Germany began to attack all American industries however they could, starting with u-boats attacking cargo and passenger ships at sea with torpedoes. While this took place at sea, German operatives carried out countless acts of sabotage on American soil. They attacked all parts of the industry from factories, to depots, to boats.

  4. Black Tom Bombing After midnight, a series of small fires were discovered on a pier on Black Tom Island, which was ammunition depot. Some guards fled, fearing an explosion. Others attempted to fight the fires and eventually called the Jersey City Fire Department. At 2:08 a.m. the first and largest of the explosions took place. Fragments from the explosion traveled long distances, some lodging in the Statue of Liberty and some in the clock tower of the Jersey Journal building in Journal Square, over a mile away, stopping the clock at 2:12 a.m. The explosion was the equivalent of an earthquake measuring between 5.0 and 5.5 on the Richter Scale and was felt as far away as Philadelphia. Windows broke as far as 25 miles away, including thousands in lower Manhattan. Some window panes in Times Square were completely shattered. The outer wall of Jersey City's City Hall was cracked and the Brooklyn Bridge was shaken. People as far away as Maryland were awakened by what they thought was an earthquake.

  6. Anthrax Scare Anton Dilger worked for Germany as a secret agent. In 1915 he built a laboratory in his Washington, DC, home to grow strains of anthrax and glanders cultures smuggled from Germany. Anton Dilger plotted to poison the livestock of the Allies. Although it is unclear whether Dilger’s efforts were successful, Rumors of mysterious livestock illnesses perpetuated fears about the silent killer.
