  5. CEPH Accreditation • Represents a level of excellence in public health education that is recognized worldwide. • Requires a year-long self-study using the extensive criteria established by CEPH. • CEPH review team visits the site for an intensive four-day examination of the school or program both to validate the self-study and to interview faculty, staff, students, graduates, and employers. • Council’s decision based on self-study, review team’s report, and site’s comments on the team’s report. • Accreditation ranges from two to seven years. • Decision often includes items that require additional work by the site and a follow-up report. • Before the end of accreditation term, the site formally launches its next self-study to begin the accreditation process once more. • Intent is for FMS to build its own accredited school or program of public health by capitalizing on SPHIS’s accreditation.
