State Accountability Academic Performance Index (API) The API is a single number, ranging from a low of 200 to a high of 1000, that reflects a school’s or school district’s performance level, based on the results of statewide testing. Its purpose is to measure the academic performance focusing on the growth of schools. The API target for California is 800. - 1 - Expect Success: Every classroom. Every student. Every day.

Federal Accountability Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) • AYP is a series of annual academic performance goals established for each school, school district, and the state as a whole. • Schools, school districts, and the state have met AYP if they meet or exceed each year’s goals (AYP targets and criteria). • OUSD made AYP for both: API from 676 to 695 with 19 point growth Graduation Rate (from 66.0 to 67.6 with 1.6 growth) Expect Success: Every classroom.
