  1. My Place Photography has been developed to support school aged young people to gain a better knowledge of buildings, spaces and places in your local area. It features and competition and learning project; all housed in one website with learning resources, case studies and galleries of images created by young people.Free downloadable learning guides and resources offer activity ideas for teachers and youth leaders to use with Primary and Secondary pupils in the classroom and outdoors.

What are the benefits to participating in the project? - Access to learning resources is free via the My Place website - Learning resources support group and independent working - Practicing photography supports the development of visual literacy and technology skills www.scottishcivictrust.org.uk

  4. - Activities can support connections between the curriculum subject areas and the local environment, enhancing cross-curricular learning - Photographs can be shared nationally via the My Place Photography Competition, an annual opportunity for young people to picture Scotland’s built environment

How can teachers use the project for the benefit of pupils? - Use the learning resources to support a project in your school- Register for the My Place Photography Competition and enter an image by each pupil- Update the My Place Photography Officer on activity at your school. She will feature your project in the 2015 exhibition at The Lighthouse along with other projects across Scotland. www.scottishcivictrust.org.uk

It includes information from primary teacher Susan Hume and footage of school based workshop activities. There is also a longer version available on the website.   11. What next?Use the resources available on the My Place website to support young people to explore their local area. Perhaps use the school building as a starting point or choose one local landmark building.Create some documentation of your workshop in progress including photographs, quotes and teachers feedback. File and label documentation and pupils photography accurately. www.scottishcivictrust.org.uk

Photographs and documentation of your projects can be shared via the website and the My Place exhibition in early 2015 at The Lighthouse in the centre of Glasgow.Pupils may also enter the My Place Photography Competition in January.   14. All images featured in this presentation have been generated by pupils, teachers and the My Place Photography Project Officer. My Place Photography competition deadline for entries is 31 January 2015. My Place exhibition is scheduled for March – May 2015. My Place Photography is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project is funded up to June 2015.
