Objective of the Memorandum of Agreement:

  • jointly undertake the pursuit of addressing the pressing concern for the prevalence of dengue.

The MOA is an inter-agency cooperation strategy for intensifying the anti-dengue drive of the government.

Importance of the Website:

  • for immediate intervention and action to prevent dengue outbreak.
  • serve as monitoring tool for dengue coordinators,
  • city health officers and other public health practitioners.
  • provides information on mosquito density data as well as warning alerts, health advisory and actions to be undertaken from DOH.

Why we need to install the OL Trap System?

  • A two in one device:
    • Surveillance tool and at the same time,
    • a trap; reducing the population density
  • (collects eggs).
  • It is also an attractant trap of which the eggs are deposited on the paddle.
  • The trap consists of a black container, a small strip of lawanit or tongue depressor and water.
  • It is used as a means of detecting mosquitoes as well as an approximate gauge of the adult population in an area.
  • It can be used to estimate fairly well the population of adult mosquitoes in the environment by counting the number of eggs laid on the moist paddle.
  • In this way, a sudden increase of mosquito population can be detected.
