  4. Search Observations • Both databases: satisfactory job finding print items. • Both lists included items from various perspectives. • Overlap considerable but not overwhelming. • GBIP didn’t have any digital items. • Neither database returned audio books. • GBIP had many duplicate items due to binding differences with no clear way to eliminate them.

  5. Currency • Currency was a wash with both databases returning several items with 2010 publication dates. • Retrospective coverage was substantially greater in Amazon with items dating back to 1993.

  6. Subject Headings • LC - nada, nunća, zip, zero • Other subject headings - GBIP • Bowker • BIC (Book Industry Communication) • BISAC (Book Industry Study Group) • Other subject headings – Amazon • Search cluster subject tags • Folksonomy tags

  26. Our Verdict • Having Both is advantageous – more is better, no? • Is GBIP worth the subscription fee? • Amazon model: something good enough in an infinite universe of information. • GBIP model: finite but substantial quantity of relevant information. • If Amazon has no competition, will it have incentive to remain “excellent”?
