  2. somberly When you act somberly, you speak and act in a serious way. What kind of facial expression would you expect to see on a person who is acting somberly? Turn and show your partner a somber expression.

  3. stammers A person who stammers speaks with difficulty, often stopping or repeating themself. What might a person who stammers sound like? Turn and demonstrate to your partner.

  4. monopolize People who monopolize something control it and prevent others from using it. If you monopolize the basketball, what are you doing? 1. passing the ball to your teammates 2. keeping the ball to yourself

  5. deflated If someone feels deflated, they have lost confidence about something. Which would make you feel deflated? losing a baseball game 2. winning a baseball game

  6. enraptured A person who is enraptured is delighted and thrilled with something. If a movie or a book enraptured you, would you recommend it? Thumbs up = yes Thumbs down = no Turn and tell your partner about a movie or a book that enraptured you. Begin your sentence like this: “A movie/book that enraptured me was __ because __.”

  7. enterprising People who are enterprising do new and difficult things in order to achieve their goals. An enterprising person would probably… 1. be satisfied with what they had. 2. strive for bigger and better things.

  8. cumbersome Something that is cumbersome is large, heavy, and difficult to handle. What would make a backpack cumbersome to carry? 1. stuffing it as full as can be 2. only putting a few small things in it
