  1. DLR - CMC ReportMartin Pilgram, DLR-GSOC, October 2005, Washington

  2. Areas of interest, DLR contribution As being not involved in building spacecrafts and responsible for ground operations the main interest of DLR/GSOC focus on ground related issues • Security WG • Navigation WG • S/C Mon + Control WG • SLE Data Trans. Service WG other interests, which couldn’t be supported are • SLE Service Mgmt. WG • RF & Modulation WG No contribution to the more space related areas as SPACECRAFT ONBOARD INTERFACE SERVICES and SPACE INTERNETWORKING SERVICES

  3. CESG resolutions DLR requests to have access to the CESG CWE or at least to be informed about CESG resolutions, when they are taken. Today we have no access to the CESG CWE, we will be informed on CESG work and decisions first by the report given at the CMC. This is to late to be able for proper decisions on the CCSDS Operating Plan (A01x2y32[16Jun05]) during CMC.

  4. CCSDS liaisons DLR propose CCSDS secretary to inform the liaisons on new work items in CCSDS after they are approved by the CMC. This information flow on new work items should be established also the other way round. DLR got aware of the following work items: • SC14: Space Debris • ECSS: Ranging The CCSDS WGs should coordinate with the work to be proposed in the liaisons.

  5. ECSS-CCSDS liaison ECSS wants to establish a liaison with CCSDS and formalize the approach. DLR propose to coordinate a liaison statement on secretary level based on the CMC discussion of the April meeting in Athens, which describes • the points of contact in CCSDS and ECSS, • the exchange of new work items, • the preference where to handle the work items, • the involvement in the review process of each others AI: CCSDS secretary

  6. IOAG liaison As one result of the working group meetings in Atlanta, DLR has to thank CESG for picking up the IOAG resolutions and integration the requested work items into the current CCSDS WG structure e.g. • Forming new BOFs or • Integration of the requests into the current WGs

  7. WGs and BOFs DLR proposes to check on extending the lifetime of WGs and BOFs • if there is only one agency is participating / spending resources • If a BOF is not able to set up a workplan and get resources for a proper work in a resonable time frame. If there is an interest by the participants the work should be continued outside CCSDS and opened as a BOF or WG if the work item is more consolidated.

  8. Lifetime of BOFs

  9. Participation in Atlanta WGs

  10. Resource allocation (some agencies incl. NASA still missing) The following WG/BOFs have resources less than 0.1 man/year: • All BOFs without Cross Support Architecture BOF • and the following WGs: • Cross Support Concept/Ref. Mod WG • Prox-1 Build-2 WG

  11. Promotion DLR thanks the secretary for the increased effort in promoting CCSDS. There might be a promotion package defined by each Area, CESG, CMC (CCSDS CD) which enables members of the CCSDS easily to promote CCSDS.

  12. Meeting Cycle DLR propose a meeting cycle for the technical WGs twice meetings a year. There should be one plenary a year, which brings all WGs together for necessary discussions of inter-WG related issues and to inform the WG members on CCSDS work items outside their WG. The intermediate meetings can be organized by the WGs itselfes.
