The Trifecta of Questions • How is your day so far? • What will you do after school? • What have you read about this week?
Vocabulary • Batch • Company • Records • Parrot • Ignore • Soap opera • Opera • Embarrass • Stroll • Tease • Blubbery • Ambulance • Ill • Mumble • Resume • “Twilight Zone” • Clung • Furnace
Vocabulary • Write the words down in your notebooks • Leave three lines between each word • You will write the meaning and definition of each word
Literature Concepts • Context Clues • Hints to understand the meaning of unknown words • CCs can be found in 3 places: the sentence containing the word and sentences before and after the word • Use context clues from the story to figure out unknown words from the vocab list
Reading • Read, individually, “Papa’s Parrot” in your literature book • Pages 26-29 • Write down any words that you do not know that are not in the vocabulary list • Use context clues to understand and write the definition of the vocabulary words
Questions • Complete the comprehension questions 1-4 on page 30 in class • Answer using FULL SENTENCES!! • You must finish these before the end of class or you will NOT receive credit • Homework: page 30 question 5 • Use full sentences • Include supporting details in your answers
