  1. How Important is it to Take Protein Shake When Working Out When you workout, your body burns calories and your muscles need protein to repair themselves. This is where protein (either natural or supplements) come in. You can take a protein shake sometime after your workout to regain the muscle strength and build muscle. There are different kinds of proteins – whey protein, pea protein, rice protein, quinoa protein, etc. and it depends on your choice. Photo by Josh Sorenson from Pexels Is Powdered Protein Good for You? Protein powders are not harmful on their own, but you need to keep in mind a few things while buying them. The first is your body’s behaviour – are you allergic to soy or milk? Then do avoid products that are made from these things. Other things are: Authenticity: Go for products that are authentic. Always buy from a known dealer or a known website. Check the barcode, and the genuineness seal of the product. Fillers: Some products contain fillers, that don’t have any nutritional value. They are added into a product to increase the weight. Avoid fillers in products.

  2. Ingredients: Check for additives in the product. Some brands add chemicals like artificial sweeteners, colors, flavours, emulsifiers, thickeners, preservatives, etc. that are not good for health. Protein Content: Check for the protein content in the supplement. If it is less than 60-70%, then it is better to select other products. Some brands add a miniscule amount of protein in the supplement along with other filler substances. Your diet is also important. Don’t rely only on supplements as there is only so much they can help. Do have a healthy meal filled with natural protein sources like Dal, veges, etc. Each person’s protein requirement also differs based on their age, weight, activity, diet, etc. Instead of following something you read online, always check with your nutritionist about how much supplement to take daily (scoops, etc.) some people take protein supplements with water while others take with milk. Milk can make you put on weight and can be hard to digest since it already has a lot of fat and carbs.
