  1. Caterina Praticò "Common Operative Model for Assessing innovative Potential and for Supporting Policy Decision for development” Marseille, 2nd April 2014

  2. “Shapes Common Model” is a result of the capitalization of 2 different models: the model for measuring Local Balance of Innovation (ALBI) and – the model for simulation and valuation of quality of living environment (QLE) that is introducing the quality of time-balance indicators, related to spatial quality, lifestyles and possibilities . IN-EUR + INFLOWENCE

  3. 1st phase: Joining the models in one

  4. ASSUMPTIONS: - Creative people and creative industries are known as an important driving force for improving the attractiveness of the areas and their development toward better quality of life. - The assessing of potentials for innovation development of creative industries is recognized as an important challenge for future territorial development. In the case of creative industries it is not only related to the “classical” indicators of innovation potential, but it is as well very closely related to numerous aspects of quality of life (environmental quality, quality of place, health and wellbeing, time quality balance) and society characteristics (openness, human resources, interchanging, culture…).

  5. ASSUMPTIONS: - For this approach it is very important to take into consideration all the complexity and comprehensiveness of the area of investigations. - Understanding the local level potentials and local benefits plays an important role in the overall conception of the model.

  6. About the joint model • The model helps to understand the complexity of the factors that are important for attracting, supporting and developing innovativeness and creativity within the territory. • It puts 3 main areas of investigation into focus: • Society • Economy • Space

  7. About the joint model • It is composed by 6 drivers / conditions that are important for creating the potentials: • Creative enterprise system • Education, knowledge and research • Social context and skills • Spatial and environmental quality • Finance and infrastructure framework • Overall support from governance.

  8. 2nd phase: testing the model

  9. Test in 7 regions/territories: Aragona (ES) Rhodes (GR) Calabria (IT) Lazio (IT) Lucca (IT) Algarve (P) Ljubljana (SL)

  10. Testing the model is a possibility for (local ) public authorities to explore the present situation and potentials of their territories for: - attracting creative and innovative enterprises and actors, supporting the development of innovative and creative production, improving attractiveness, economic growth and competitiveness of the whole territory. Testing the model is also a possibility for (local) public authorities to compare their situation to the situations in the 6 other testing areas/territories and so to notice their advantages and weaknesses, to develop ideas, to make choices and to improve their policies,
