Types of Flanges

A flange is an external or internal ridge, or rim, for strength, as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam; or for attachment to another object, as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera; or for a flange of a rail car or tram wheel.

  2. About Flanges A flange is an external or internal ridge, or rim, for strength, as the flange of an iron beam such as an I-beam or a T-beam; or for attachment to another object, as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc., or on the lens mount of a camera; or for a flange of a rail car or tram wheel. www.nakshatrasteel.com

  3. Slip On Flanges Slip on Flanges are manufactured with an inside diameter that is slightly bigger than the pipe's outside diameter. These attachments are connected to the pipe via fillet weld at the top and bottom of the flange. www.nakshatrasteel.com

  4. A weld neck flange is a type of flange. There are two designs. The regular type is used with pipes. The long type is unsuitable for pipes and is used in process plant. A weld neck flange consists of a circular fitting with a protruding rim around the circumference. Weld Neck Flanges www.nakshatrasteel.com

  5. A blind flange is a plate for covering or closing the end of a pipe. The purpose of these is to block off a section of pipe or a nozzle on a vessel that is not used.  Blind Flanges www.nakshatrasteel.com

  6. Socket-weld pipe flanges are typically used on smaller sizes of high pressure pipes. These pipe flanges are attached by inserting the pipe into the socket end and applying fillet weld around the top. Socket Weld Flanges www.nakshatrasteel.com

  7. Threaded Flanges Threaded Flanges are also known as screwed flange, and it is having a thread inside the flange bore which fits on the pipe with matching male thread on the pipe. www.nakshatrasteel.com

  8. Lap Joint Flanges A lap joint flange, abbreviated as LJF, is a flange that consists of two parts, a stub end and the backing flange. On a Lap Joint, the flange slides over the pipe and the stub end is the connection where the gasket sits.  www.nakshatrasteel.com

  9. Orifice Flanges Orifice flanges, abbreviated as ORFF, are for metering the volumetric flow rate of liquids and gasses through a pipe. Two orifice flanges are called an orifice flange union. www.nakshatrasteel.com

  10. Forged Flanges Forged flanges are used as a connection component for pipes, valves, pumps and other equipment to form a pipework system. They provide easy access for cleaning, inspection, modification or repairs. www.nakshatrasteel.com

  11. Reducing Flanges Reducing flanges are a specialty flange that are most often used on projects that require the fitting together of different sized pipes. A reducing flange consists of a flange with one specified diameter having a bore of a different and smaller, diameter. www.nakshatrasteel.com

  12. Spectacle Blind Flanges Spectacle blind flanges – also known as figure-8 blind flanges – are generally pieces of metal. Spectacle blind flange cut to fit between two pipe flanges and usually sandwiched between two gaskets. www.nakshatrasteel.com
