  1. DO MEALWORMS PREFER DAMP OR DRY PLACES?

  2. Maximiliano Vázquez Robles Gabriel Avilés Kim Julio Cuapio Neri Emiliano Bachiller Morales May 15th, 2009 The mealworms experiment

  3. You Know that we sometimes find mealworms in food.Mealworms can sense if the environment is damp or dry.Sometimes conditions change. The mealworm´s body helps it react to the changes. So we wanted to know,if they prefer damp or dry places.

  4. - We used a tub - Sand- 2 sponges and a plastic spoon- Water - Mealworms and food

  5. First we covered the bottom of the tub with a layer of Sand

  6. Then we wet 1 sponge, and we squeezed out any extra water

  7. We placed the damp sponge at one end of the tub,and the dry sponge at the other end.

  8. We put food in the center, between the two sponges, and the mealworms on the food.

  9. After some minutes we observed that some of them were on dry sponge

  10. We observed them for a week putting more water on the damp sponge every day

  11. and we saw that this time they were on the damp sponge.

  12. Three weeks later we realized that there were some beetles instead of mealworms

  13. So we concluded that mealworms turned into beetles and they like to be on damp places

  14. Thanks
