The scenery was very beautiful, so we became happy. A friend said, “Not far from the sea. Let’s keep going!” When we arrived at the terminal, there were about 20 other people who were taking their bicycles apart from us.

When we got off the boat there was a lake. We cycled around the lake and then we went through a forest and arrived at the ryokan at 4pm. We introduced ourselves to the people in the ryokan in Japanese. After that, they gave us some cold green tea.

We have never been in a big, Japanese bath. Today was our first experience. We took our clothes off, washed ourselves and went in (the bath). Everyone looked a bit embarrassed.

I woke up as often as four times during the night. When I got up in the morning, my throat was sore. I may have caught a cold. However, I guess I’ll be alright.

They say that the fish in Hokkaido is delicious. We ordered a fish dish. We could eat a variety of food for just 500 yen.

We won 3-1 against China. In the next match we won 2-1 against Canada. However, the match against England on Monday was a draw. 20 minutes after this match started one of our best player’s leg got injured.

It was disappointing that we had lost 4-2 against America. However, we enjoyed every match.

While eating I talked to the waitress in Japanese. Every dish (we got) was so delicious that I ate too much. When I get back to New Zealand, I may have put on weight. I am now in Hokkaido. When I woke up this morning, I saw that the rain had stopped. Thank goodness! Also, I had a ride on a fantastic train today.

There were about 25 people on that train. I am hopeless at it but I like singing songs, so I sang four times. I felt very good. When (the train) stopped (at the station) people who were waiting for trains saw us and they were laughing.

After riding on this train for about one hour, it arrived at a station near the ryokan. I greeted everyone and then got off the train.
