  • Student Choice Artifacts are artifacts you choose to include which can be academic, extra-curricular, or from outside of school. You are required to upload two per year.

Where can I scan my Artifacts?

  • The RHS Library (14 high speed scanners and 4 standard scanners coming soon)
  • The Career Center (8 standard scanners coming soon)
  • In some RHS classrooms that have scanners
  • The Redmond Public Library
  • At home if you have a scanner
  • Teachers can access another scanning option on your behalf by submitting class sets of documents to the RHS copy room. Your artifact will be scanned and emailed to you directly in PDF form. All you have to do is upload it! If your teacher accesses this option, please be sure to prepare your artifact for scanning by doing the following things:

Staff Scanner Instructions

1. Remove all staples from your work and paper clip it

together.

2. Make sure your documents are one-sided.

3. When filling out the “Scanning Order Form”, use your

school e-mail address and print clearly. Illegible forms

will be returned to the teacher unscanned.

  • Be sure to let your teacher know if you do not receive the artifact via email.
  • It will be critical that you keep your school email account from getting full. Personal email accounts do not always work with this option so we will use your student email account.

Portfolio Scanning and Uploading Demo

While we would like you to upload your artifacts in a bundle as Ms. Gildayjust demonstrated, (meaning all of the pieces together in one document) we realize that won’t always be possible.

If you are including an audio or video artifact you will upload two separate pieces. First you will upload the artifact cover sheet followed by the graded rubric or artifact reflection, depending on whether or not it is a teacher required artifact or a personal choice artifact. After you upload those that, you will need to upload the mp3 or video file. It is recommended that you name the mp3 or video file with the same name as the first part of the artifact you’ve already uploaded adding the text “part 2” to the title so it is clear what that file is associated with. For example, if you titled your Cover Sheet and Rubric/Artifact Reflection “Jazz Band Solo” you would title the mp3 file “Jazz Band Solo Part 2” indicating those two uploaded items are connected.

Please remember that the work you do on your portfolio is done outside of school. There will not be time to do the work of your portfolio during homeroom.

Your homeroom teacher may occasionally talk with you about your portfolio to see how you are doing but they will not be able to provide in-depth support.

If you are not on track with your portfolio, your homeroom teacher will communicate with the Portfolio Coordinator or an administrator about the status of your portfolio.

The Portfolio Coordinator or your Administrator will monitor your progress and impose consequences if necessary.

As with any new initiative, the first year can be challenging. We strongly believe that this portfolio is in the best interest of students and we will do our best to solve issues as they come up.

Please continue to report challenges you are having so we can make this process as smooth as possible for you.
