Comparing & Contrasting Movies G.O. • We will be making a graphic organizer to compare and contrast each chapter (5, 7, 8) • Divide a piece of composition paper into 3 columns (TGG 2013, TGG Novel, TGG 1974) • Each column should have 4 categories (Characterization, Plot, Visuals, Music) • As we watch, record how each movie handles these elements in each chapter. • Pay special attention when a movie does something different than the book.

Type 3 Writing • Which movie is a better version of The Great Gatsby? • Evaluate 1 chapter from both movies (chapter 5, chapter 7, chapter 8). • Support your evaluation with examples from both movies (or from the actual novel). • FCA 1: Create an essay with a clear main idea that is supported with examples throughout (at least 3 per body paragraph). • At least 1 body paragraph should explain why the other version of the movie is inferior. • FCA 2: Use a 5 paragraph essay format (introduction, 3 body paragraphs, conclusion). • FCA 3: Write using the voice of an expert, a film critic.
