Working on wellness program basics • The Working on Wellness (WoW) Program is a partnership between Cecil County Government, Cecil College, Cecil County Public Library and Viverae. • Who is Viverae? Viverae is a wellness vendor who manages the WoW points program and provides support materials, challenges, and disease management services. • WoW has a committee of county employees working to promote healthy lifestyle choices. • The WoW partnership includes an annual incentive program for participating employees. The current program year runs from July 1, 2014-June 30, 2015.

Why is there a wellness program? • Cecil County Government promotes an atmosphere which supports the maintenance • of employee health; the prevention, detection, treatment, and rehabilitation of • employees; and continuing education and professional growth of the occupational • health and safety of staff. • The vision is to promote the health, wellness and safety of • Cecil County Government employees by providing programs that • prevent injury and illness and encourage healthy lifestyles. • Healthy employees are productive employees!As a self insured • health plan, employer/employee premiums are directly affected • by medical claim costs.

  4. How CAN yOU participate? • Level 1 - Take charge of your health. Complete a biometric screening, health assessment, and preventative care activities. Engage with Viverae to report the completion of these and other tasks. • Level 2 - Become a Wellness Champion. Assist committee members with planning events, promoting challenges, and engaging your department. Participate with just one event or several based on your interest and availability. • Level 3 - Volunteer to join the Wellness Committee in a committee role.

Why should you participate? • Work with a specialist for a care plan specific to your health needs: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, COPD, etc. • INCENTIVES!!! • Complete the first two components by 10/31/14 will be entered into a raffle drawing for really great prizes! • Complete the full program to receive an incentive valued at $100! • Increased awareness of your health. Know your numbers and how to improve them. • Improve your health. Use Viverae resources to connect with a personal coach to assist you in setting and reaching health goals. These can be medical, nutritional, or fitness related.

  6. It’s As Easy as 1-2-3… • 1. Register with Viverae – It’s easy! • Online at www.myviverae.com(Registration name: CECIL) • Mobile site www.myviverae.com • Telephone 1-888-VIVERAE (848-3723) 2. Report completed wellness activities to earn a total of 200 points • Complete the 3 required activities which total to 150 points • Complete additional activities to earn an additional 50 points 3. Submit an incentive redemption form during redemption times

How it works… • Mandatory components of the program: • MHA (Member Health Assessment): a short survey regarding your health and habits • Biometric Screening (blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, etc.) Sign up for one or our two on-site screenings, obtain current information from your doctor, or visit LabCorp • Preventative Care Compliance: Complete the recommended number of preventative care components based on your age. These activities may include a dental exam, eye exam, annual physical, flu shot, etc. • Additional activity examples (to earn the remaining 50 points): • View a webinar • Employer challenge- the challenges will occur in November, January, and May • Participate in an event (walking program, cooking demonstration, etc.), • Participate in a personal coaching session. If you’re going to have annual check ups and vision & dental exams anyway, why not earn WELLNESS POINTS for them?!

  8. Your Business is YOUR business • Internet Access • All reporting can be completed over the phone. You do not have to log in. • Viverae has a mobile site that can be accessed via your smart phone • Privacy • CCGov does not receive any of your personal health information, EVER. Viverae follows all HIPPA regulations and respects your desire for privacy. • CCGov is provided with information on who participates and their total points only. No information is shared regarding what preventative choices were made, biometric results, or coaching support. • Time • Make yourself and your health a priority. Schedule your health into your calendar. Most activities (webinar, targeted programs) require very little time to complete or log. • The MHA typically takes less than 15 minutes. Biometric screening onsite takes approximately 15-20 minutes. • Communicate with your supervisor about your desire to participate in onsite screening or activities. Work out a schedule that accommodates your needs and the needs of the department.

  9. Incentive redemption • A raffle drawing will be held the second week of November for all members who complete the MHA and Biometric by October 31, 2014. Stay tuned for a distribution of prize information… • $100 Redemptions will be processed in either January and July for members reaching the 200 point goal. Employees are eligible for only one redemption per program year. Redemption forms are located on the employee intranet. • $100 Parks and Rec voucher (bus trips, kayaking, classes, etc.) • $100 Redemption for nutritional weight loss program • $100 Redemption for fitness expenses (gym membership, class costs) • Fit Bit or $100 redemption for a similar product (UP, Aria scale, Bodymedia, heart rate watch, GPS watch, etc.)

More information • Human Resources has program information, stop in to pick up a program guide • Visit the Wellness Intranetfor flyers, program guides, videos, and newsletters • Consult with a Wellness Committee Member (contact info on the Intranet wellness site) • Log onto www.myviverae.com to explore the site and program. Viverae unveiled a redesigned website July 1. The new format is much easier to navigate, provides more self initiated tracking and a new peer challenge category. • Attend a program roll out meeting. Dates and locations posted on the Wellness Intranet
