PAL 4/27/12. Air at 7oC enters a turbojet engine at a rate of 16 kg/s and a velocity of 300 m/s (relative to the engine). The air is heated in the combustion chamber at a rate of 15 MJ/s. I t leaves the engine at 427oC. Determine the speed at which the air leaves the engine.

  1. PAL 4/27/12 • Air at 7oC enters a turbojet engine at a rate of 16 kg/s and a velocity of 300 m/s (relative to the engine). The air is heated in the combustion chamber at a rate of 15 MJ/s. I t leaves the engine at 427oC. • Determine the speed at which the air leaves the engine. • Determine the thrust force produced by the engine. • Consider a simple ideal Rankine cycle with fixed turbine inlet conditions. What is the effect of lowering the condenser pressure on each of the following? (increases, decreases, or stays the same) • pump work in • turbine work out • heat in • heat out • efficiency • moisture content at turbine exit.
