Performance Excellence Overview Our success will require efforts in three (3) areas… Process Management helps us maintain good results as we perform our Mission: Strategic Planning helps us “focus” on key projects to reach ourVision: Performance Improvement helps us fix problems and improve our results Our Strategic Planning process involves all stakeholders.

  3. APD Strategic Planning Strategic Planning – identifies a critical few priority problem areas and identifies projects to achieve improvement in those areas. The four (4) phases are:

Our timeline for phases Focus, Align and Involve When Executive Management Team (EMT) (Solicit Stakeholders Input ) July and August EMT Workshop (Develop/Revise Mission, Vision and Core Values ) August 24th Leadership Workshop (FOCUS on Critical Stakeholder Unmet Needs, Conduct S.W.O.T. Analysis, Determine Critical Few Objectives (CFOs) and Develop Strategic Plan ‘Draft’) August 28th and 29th September and October Staff Regional Workshops Review ‘Draft’, Identify / Align Projects to CFOs and Gain Buy-In Other Stakeholders’ Workshops EMT Workshop (Finalize Strategic Plan) November 2007

  5. APD Strategic Planning Process: “Focus” Phase The Leadership team will identify Critical Few Objectives (CFOs) for Organization’s Strategic Plan in the “Focus” phase of the Strategic Planning Process. Focus Align Involve Review

  6. Strategic Planning Process:“Align, Involve and Review” Phases The field and headquarters’ staff will identify and align improvement projects to the CFOs. Staff will then develop action plans and implement approved projects. Finally, the Leadership Team and appropriate staff will review project results quarterly. Focus Align Involve Review

Review/Modify Vision The Leadership team revised the organization’s Mission and Vision … Mission:The Agency is dedicated to assisting citizens with developmental disabilities to live, learn and work in their communities. Vision:The Agency will be a leader in supporting people with developmental disabilities to be valued, included and productive in their communities. Focus Align Involve Review

  8. Identify Unmet Critical Stakeholder Requirements (CSRs) The Leadership Team evaluated previously identified CSRs and prioritized them using a “Stakeholder Unmet NeedsMatrix”. Focus Align Involve Review

  9. Perform S.W.O.T. Analysis The Leadership Team completed S.W.O.T. Analysis to identify KEY ISSUES needing to be taken into account during Strategic planning. S.W.O.T Analysis Focus Align Involve Review

  10. Identify Strategic goals to meet Unmet CSRs The Leadership Team then identified Strategic goals that would focus on the highest priority “Unmet CSRs”. Stakeholder Unmet NeedsMatrix Focus Align Involve Review

  11. Identify CFOs to achieve Strategic Goals The Leadership Team finally identified Critical Few Objectives to achieve each Strategic Goal (Note that Outcome Indicator info in Red is Example only). Fiscal Year 2007-2008 Strategic Plan Summary Focus Align Involve Review
