Who is HRPA? • Our vision is to be a global leader advancing the Human Resources profession as the essential driver of business strategy and organizational success. • Largest HR Association in Canada. • Grants and administers the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. • Over 19,000 members; 28 chapters.

The CHRP Certification Process • The Academic Requirement • Academic route • 9 courses, 70% overall, no less than 65% • Alternate Route • Executive Program Route • The Membership Requirement • The Exam Requirement • The National Knowledge Exam (NKE) • The Experience Requirement • 3 years of HR experience at the professional level • Degree Requirement

National Knowledge Exam (NKE) • 3 hour exam • Multiple choice format • 70% required to pass • Offered in May and Oct (register 2 months in advance) • Exam is developed by CCHRA via their Independent Board of Examiners and is administered provincially • When the NKE is successfully completed, members can call themselves “CHRP Candidate” as long as they retain HRPA membership

  19. Mentorship • Our chapter offers a mentorship program geared toward less experienced HR professionals to gain knowledge from more experienced professionals • Mentor/Protégé is required to meet once a month for 3 hours • Application information can be found on our chapter site

  20. Annual Student Reception Yearly event; this year’s reception is January 18, 2012 the HRPAGVC recognizes its student members Reception recognizes student members and mentorship program participants (mentors and protégés) Students, protégés and mentors are invite to attend the reception
