  3. Define Supervised Agricultural Experience Program • Required by state law • Designed by you (the student), me (your teacher), and your parents

  4. Assignment • Complete application for your next FFA degree • Complete proficiency application of choice

  5. Purpose • Extend classroom learning • Help gain work related experience • Develop agriculture awareness • Develop self-esteem through success

  6. List examples and types of projects students may have as SAEP • Type A • Ag Entrepreneurship: students owns the project and provides the Financing, Labor, Equipment, and Space for the project.

Research/Experimentation and Analysis • One conducts research or analyze information to discover new knowledge. • Scientific Process • Compare soil pH’s and affects on nutrient uptake • Compare pesticide, fertilizer or seeding rates • Compare animal response to different feed additives • Compare fish response to water qualities

Investigate, analyze and develop a plan to address an agricultural challenge. • Create a marketing plan for an agricultural commodity • Research and write a series of newspaper articles that increase the public’s agricultural literacy or awareness of agricultural practices • Develop a land use plan for a farm or ranch • Detail a landscape plan for a community facility

  12. Explain the Responsibilities of Those Involved in One’s SAE

  13. Student Responsibilities • Specified occupational objective • Agree to and sign training agreement • Work setting related to specified objective • Work part time under supervision • Receive pay AND credit • Supervised by employer AND teacher • Enroll in in-school class related to OJT

  14. Parents • Provide the following items: • Financial Support • Land • Equipment • Transportation • Technical Guidance • Emotional Support & Encouragement

Teacher Responsibilities • Identify and counsel prospective students • Help students identify and state occupational objectives • Agree to and sign training agreement • Provides in-school related instruction • Evaluates and approves training stations • Places students in appropriate training stations • Visits, observes, supervises, and evaluates on site

  16. Employer Responsibilities • Agree to and sign training agreement • Assign qualified training sponsor • Participate in program planning, evaluation, and revision

  17. Training Sponsor (Supervisor) • May be employer • Work with teacher in setting up a training plan • Remain aware of related class instruction • Provide OJT learning experiences • Follow the training plan

  18. The Purpose of the SAEP Record Book • Inflow and outflow of money • Determine earnings • Observe financial progress • Determine which enterprises are profitable • Income taxes • Management Decisions • Future Planning • FFA Degrees and Awards
