  30. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lmap information

  31. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Description The NCDS Board of Trustees has adopted a NCDS Local Membership Ambassador Program (LMAP) to promote membership in the ADA and NCDS by utilizing LMAP volunteers to contact, nurture, and assist nonmembers and non-renewals in becoming NCDS members. This program will support the NCDS Strategic Plan and work in coordination with other membership enhancement efforts, such as specific activities related to minority, women, and young dentists. High membership in the NCDS by NC dentists is necessary for the Society to accomplish its goals to promote the profession, oral health, and professionalism. High membership statistics provide the Society the necessary manpower, financial resources, and legislative advocacy credibility for these purposes. It is an accepted premise that personal contact is the primary factor in the successful promotion of NCDS membership. While various recruitment communication techniques can and should be utilized, nothing substitutes for one-on-one contact. Therefore LMAP will identify dentists in a variety of NC locales who are willing to volunteer to provide this personal contact with nonmembers and non-renewals. Under the direction of the NCDS Ambassador (Ted Roberson), and with the involvement of the NCDS Board of Trustees, NCDS Central Office, Council on Membership, and the Committee of the New Dentist, the LMAP will identify local dentists to participate in the program and provide them the necessary materials, information, and support to be effective in contacting and promoting membership for nonmember or nonrenewal dentists in their town. The program will have specific objectives, expectations, and budget needs. Lmap information

  32. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES LMAP Volunteer Dentist Responsibility The specific responsibility of a LMAP volunteer will be to contact local NCDS nonmember and nonrenewal dentists and encourage their memberships in the NCDS and ADA. Lmap information

  33. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES LMAP Dentist Expectations The NCDS appreciates an individual’s willingness to serve as a NCDS LMAP volunteer. The personal, one on one contact provided is expected to enhance the potential for increased/continued membership. As a participant in LMAP, a dentist will become part of a viable network that constantly receives upgrades about NCDS activities and issues. It is anticipated that each LMAP volunteer will have 2 local nonmember or nonrenewal dentists to contact each year. A LMAP dentist may utilize the following mechanisms for their membership recruitment and retention efforts: Telephone contacts Personal contacts Lunch/meal meeting Presentation of NCDS/ADA membership benefits NCDS membership protocol (How to Join) Providing information about local issues/contacts/personnel/activities Need to submit response forms to NCDS for each nonmember or nonrenewal Activity Outcome Expense Reimbursement (if necessary) Lmap information

  34. LMAP NCDS Responsibilities For the LMAP effort, the NCDS will provide the following resources and support: Nonmember and nonrenewal contact information NCDS/ADA general information-(NCDS Brochure and concise handouts that provide specific information about: ADA Status, Central Office, Endorsed Partners, Membership Application, Membership Benefits, Membership Process, Membership Stages, Mentor Guidelines, NC MOM, NCDS Healthcare, NCDS Organization, New Practice Checklist, Starting Your Own Practice,) NCDS membership information Program expectations and guidelines Financial assistance for initial contact activities (NCDS reimbursement form provided) NCDS contact people for assistance/information A listing of all LMAP volunteers NCDS Webpage section on LMAP NCDS Social Media section for LMAP volunteers A certificate as a NCDS LMAP volunteer Lmap information

  35. Program Summary From a variety of mechanisms, LMAP volunteers will be identified in many towns and cities in NC. Once identified, they will be provided with specific information about the program and NCDS. Then, either Ted Roberson or the NCDS Central Office will contact the LMAP volunteer when a nonmember or nonrenewal in his/her area is identified. The LMAP volunteer will contact the nonmember at his/her convenience and provide the nonmember or nonrenewal with information about the benefits of membership as well as possible assistance in his/her practice activity or local environment. The LMAP volunteer can refer the nonmember or nonrenewal seeking membership to TMR or the NCDS Central Office for membership application and payment methods or provide that information personally. It is proposed that costs for the initial contact lunch/meal will be reimbursed to the Local Membership Ambassador up to $25 if the meal Lmap information

  36. Program Outcome Assessments After 2013, the LMAP will be assessed as to its effectiveness and the Board of Trustees will determine whether or not to continue it. This assessment will be based on the following criteria: Number of LMAP volunteers Number of actual contacts by LMAP volunteers with nonmembers or non-renewals Number of nonmember or nonrenewal contacts who become members (A specific membership code will be necessary to identify those new members who join as a result of this program.) Lmap information
