This New Year's, donate for children and ensure they too have a brighter future. A new year is here and this marks the end of a year gone by and the new beginnings that await us. This represents promising opportunities and a constructive year ahead that shall be prosperous and joyous. People across the globe celebrate this occasion with much pomp and enthusiasm. The same is not the case with street children who continue to lead a life that deteriorates for them with each passing day. You might also like Help Street Children Get a Good Life Street children live in abject poverty where they face everyday struggles. They are deprived of many integral resources, including a safe shelter, proper education, healthcare facilities etc. Children are also disconnected from the concept of responsible and loving elders who may look after them. Instead, they are surrounded by individuals who are not trustworthy, rather may dupe them one way or another. These questionable characters are also known to lure children into illegal activities like prostitution, drug peddling, robbery, and other violent ways. Due to such a company, many underprivileged children also fall into the trap of drug abuse and ultimately get addicted to it, thus leading to a lifetime of substance abuse and its torturous after-effects. Among various issues that are currently affecting the country, the issues related to street children are pivotal. Children suffering from mental issues often do not have any doctor to get consultation from or any trusted medication. Many children also get engaged in child labour to earn minimum wages. They are compelled to work at restaurants, with vendors like vegetable sellers, and even at factories that can be extremely harmful to the well-being of children. From tobacco to bricks to garments, millions of children can be found working long and tiring hours in these dangerous settings for meagre wages. Child labour holds children back from ever returning to a school, or even enrolling in the first place. It deprives them of engaging and learning with children of their age. Playtime, after all, is extremely important for the healthy development of all children. Attending the school years helps cultivate their minds and hone their personalities. Salaam Baalak Trust, a reputed non-profit organization in India, has been working passionately for the welfare of children in need.
