  2. Collective Identity Collective Identity is the shared identity of a group of people, because of a common language and culture.

  3. What are Collective Rights??? Collective rights are rights that are guaranteed to specific groups in Canadian society based on historical and constitutional reasons.

  4. Collective Rights and History Based on history collective rights have been granted to certain groups because of promises that government has made to uphold certain laws.

  5. Collective Rights in Canada Groups in Canada that have collective rights include: Aboriginal Peoples - First Nations Metis Inuit

  7. Visual Essay Assignment • As one of your major assignments you are to produce a visual essay using powerpoint over the next two weeks. • Your visual essay is due in two weeks time and must be presented to the class.
