  1. QUArk Tools for healthcare providers QUArk Agile Development

  2. How can QUArk Tools HELP providers ? • The business of a provider is to provide quality care to patients and service users • Information is derived from DATA • ANSWER : A key feature of ALL dashboards generated by the QUArk Indicator Tool for Providers is that they recognize that each patient follows a unique pathway (journey) as they are treated by the TRUST • In addition to recognizing performance “improvement”, QUArk generated dashboards support national, regional and local targets • Dashboards can focus on only records with DQ issues either utilising a view or a user specified colour

  3. Why NHS clinicians and management need tools … • Because of the increasing scope and complexity of available data • Because of the increasing cost of resource (both in terms of people and time) required to develop useful reports • Because of increasing expectations from patients, service users and people (both in terms of quality and time) The QUArk Indicator Tool for providers can generate an unlimited number of dashboards …

  4. The STORY : provider encourages teams to share knowledge in order to reduce length of stay for patients and service users with mental health problems … • The vast majority of patients do not wish to stay in hospital longer than necessary (although readmission would be worse than an extended stay) • The following screen shots are taken from a dashboard generated by the QUArk Indicator Tool for providers • The data is made up of: • sample healthpathways/timelines • a trust organisation structure which is made up of sample data BUT recognizes real cluster and treatment functions

  5. The dashboard is made up of 17 indicators, the focus is on LoS (Length of Stay)

  6. The RAG gauge (Red/Amber/Green) shows the selected period’s value is above target and higher than the previous period’s value (no BLUE pointer !)

  7. A “mekko” chart hi lights the variation in LoS click on St.Judes Hospital …

  8. The supporting dataset table lists the problem record(s) including details of the patient pathway The Purple Team share their knowledge with the Pink Team in order to help them reduce the average LoS for the patients they have responsibility for

  9. Forecasting: Adjust the targets, potentially changing the RAG rating, using the slider

  10. Dashboards alone will NOT improve efficiency • Efficient USE of efficient dashboards WILL improve efficiency • QUArk Tools build efficient dashboards: • STRONG data model (TEAM based) • RICH functionality (healthpathway/timeline) • HI performance (user interface response times)

  11. Further Information … • Dashboards built by QUArk Tools can be offered as a hosted service • QUArk can assist with the building of dashboards as required • Additional screen shots are available from the QUArk website: www.quarkagiledevelopment.org • A User Guide for QUArk Tools is available providing a detailed description of the functionality within all dashboards generated by QUArk Tools • Contact: clive.spindley@quarkagiledevelopment.org

  12. Finally (single integrated data model, no data duplication) … … the system date and time is not today’s date and time !
