On the other hand, the groom is expected to fend for his wife and plan the future of the couple’s life together. It is interesting to see, his character represents solidity and endurance, the continuation of the family line. Today, the functions of the bride and groom differ considerably from the early times. Today these roles can be more flexible and the gender difference in them does not play such a strong role as before. Thus, modern couples tend to rearrange these roles according to their desires and values. For some, this translates to physical and financial partnership in marriage about weddings, for example. Some may focus on the representation of one’s identity, with a mix of ethnicity and modernity. Besides symbolic functions, the bride and groom are personalities with their own experiences and dreams.
