  1. Mayview Regional Service Area Community Inpatient Utilization July 2006 – September 2011

FindingsTracking since July 2006 • For the region, inpatient admissions, as well as readmissions, per month have slowly decreased over the period. • For the region, Average Length of Stay has trended upward. The Median Length of Stay, however, usually falls within five to six days. • Total Inpatient Days per month has trended nearly flat over time. * Upon request from Lawrence County, their data is no longer included in the analysis.

  3. Inpatient Admissions For the region, there continues to be a downward trend.

  4. Inpatient Admissions Admissions per month continue to trend downward; however, there was a recent up-tick in March – May 2011.

  5. Inpatient Admissions Admissions continue to vary widely.

  6. Inpatient Admissions Very small trend upward, but with wide variation per month.

  7. Inpatient Admissions Admissions vary, but are the second-most stable after Allegheny.

  8. Inpatient Admission Rate Allegheny shows the highest admission rate, with an average of 6.75 admissions per 1000 enrollees vs. 4.04 in the other counties.

  9. Inpatient – Bed Days Total Bed Days per month appears stable over time.

  10. Inpatient Length of Stay For the region, ALOS is trending slightly upward. MLOS usually exists between five and six days.

  11. Inpatient Length of Stay ALOS is trending upward MLOS fluctuates between six and seven days.

  12. Inpatient Length of Stay ALOS per month has increased approximately one day over the entire period.

  13. Inpatient Length of Stay Due to small numbers, ALOS continues to fluctuate.

  14. Inpatient Length of Stay ALOS is trending very slightly upward, but the trend is still within one day for the entire period.

  15. Inpatient Readmissions Readmission rates for all categories are trending downward. The “8 to 30 day” readmission rate is the most consistent over time.

  16. Inpatient Readmissions All readmission categories are trending downward.
