Value of Libraries Study • Purpose : • to understand the value of the health library, information services and the librarian • To demonstrate the impact of your library on patient care. • Research includes: • Surveying physicians, residents and nurses in participating hospitals to assess the value of the library and information services in patient care. • Interviews with selected physicians, residents and nurses from participating hospitals to understand the role of the library resources and the librarian in providing information related to patient care. • Focus groups with librarians in the region to validate and confirm research findings.

Awards and Funding • Currently opened for applications: • Small Outreach Projects Awards • Up to 8 awards of up to $2,000 each • Application deadline is 12/31/10 • Small Projects Awards • 9 awards of up to $1,000 each • Application deadline is ongoing • Recently Closed • Health Literacy Awards – announcements to be made shortly • Recently Awarded – 24 Technology Improvement Awards

Technology Improvement Awards • 24 awards of up to $7500 each announced on 9/24/10 • Awardees included: • Baruch College Newman Library • Jersey Shore University Medical Center • LILRC • Northport VA • NYU Health Sciences Library • Hackensack University Medical Center • St. John’s Riverside/Cochrane School of Nursing • Staten Island University Hospital • UMDNJ • White Plains Hospital Center

Network Services – MARdelivery • MetroDoc service migrated to MARdelivery on 7/20/2010 • MARdelivery opened to all MAR members on 9/8/2010 • MetroDOC user were mainly in NYC • MARdelivery users are from all 4 MAR states • As of 9/29/2010, there are 33 MARdelivery libraries, up from12 MetroDoc users •  Interest form and training materials available at http://nnlm.gov/mar/rsdd/mardelivery.html • Since March 2010, MAR has added 23 new members
