  8. Where is God? “Bringing healing, that’s where God is in this.” “God is with people in a special way in the midst of brokenness. These painful situations don’t make God happy, and no one wants pain so that they can be close to God, but he shows up.” “God is expressed in how we share our ideas of Jesus with the rest of the world.” “God is abused in the conversations about war… God gets used as a pawn, and it gives people reason to turn away from Christianity.” “Jesus didn’t come into the world at a time when there were no human rights abuses, Jesus came into a violent empire in which people were killing babies on a mass scale. People expected him to act politically then, and they expect him to act politically now, but he’s not going to work through some political system, he’s building the kingdom through our hearts and minds.” “I see Him here, I have the support to say I don’t agree with militarism.” “God works through relationships: even in corruption of war, he’s there.” “I think God wants us to speak up more and tell the military what we think would be better.  Like not having the army and be peaceful.”
