Horizon 2020 First Health Calls • Some facts and figures: • H2020-PHC-2014-two-stage (8 topics, €303 million) • Opening: 11 Dec. 2013 • stage 1 proposals, deadline: 11 March 2014 – 1681 proposals received • evaluation: => 626 proposals invited to submit full proposal (15 May 2014) • stage 2 proposals, deadline: 19 Aug. 2014

  11. Horizon 2020 First Health Calls • H2020-PHC-2014-single-stage (8 topics, €185 million) • Opening: 11 Dec. 2013 • Deadline: 15 April 2014 – 451 proposals received • evaluation: => in progress

  12. Specific SME initiatives SME Instrument: three phases Feasibility study (upto €50,000). To fund a 6-month feasibility study. Application is short (10 pages) but requires firms to set out a clear business plan, and to have a new product development as part of that agenda. Innovation activities, e.g. testing, scaling-up, market replication (70/100% funding). Successful companies will be granted between €500,000 and €2.5 million for demonstration and piloting the product.   13. Example of an open call • Dedicated SME Instrument: • (Used to fund projects by high-growth companies under the industrial leadership and societal challenges pillars. Approx. €9.3bn will be spent over the seven-year period; in 2014 and 2015 largest pockets of money can be found in health, energy and transport. Access to Risk Finance Under the 'Industrial Leadership' pillar, this section will help companies and other types of organisation engaged in research and innovation (R&I) to gain easier access, via financial instruments, to loans, guarantees, counter-guarantees and equity finance.
