INTRODUCTION SAARC is the eco political organization of a 8 South Asian Nations, which was established on 8th December,1985 for friendship and cooperation among themselves and with the other developing countries. Converting a population of more than 2 billions , SAARC is the largest regional organization in the world.

  3. History Idea for regional cooperation in South Asia was discussed earlier in at least 3 conferences: The Asian relation conference in New Delhi in April, 1947. The Baguio conference in Philippines in May,1950. The Colombo power conference in May, 1954. The first concrete proposal for establishing a framework for regional cooperation in South Asia was made by the Late President of Bangladesh , Zia - Ur - Rehmanon May 2,1980. Established on 8 December, 1985. Finally , the foreign ministers of all the countries had a meeting in New Delhi in 1983 where they adopted a declaration on South Asian regional cooperation. It’s seven founding members are India ,Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives , Nepal , Pakistan and Bangladesh.

  4. REASONS FOR THE FORMATION OF SAARC Central location of Asia. Common features of the Indian Subcontinent. All countries gained independence after the second world war. All countries form part of third world. This region is poor and overpopulated. Dependency of economy Southwest mansoon.

  5. OBJECTIVES PRIMARY OBJECTIVES Improve quality of life and welfare of people. Economic ,social , and Cultural development. Contribute mutual trust and understanding. Strengthen cooperation among themselves and other developing countries. Cooperation on issues like water resources. SECONDARY OBEJECTIVES SAARC also looks in critical areas like poverty, education, and culture. Sports and Arts.

  10. REGIONAL ECONOMIC INTEGERATION Agreements between group of countries within a geographic region To reduce & ultimately remove the tariff and non-tariff barriers To the free flow of the goods , Services and Factors of production between each other.

  11. ABOUT BRICS BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China , South Africa. Jim O’Neill, chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management , coined of BRIC concept in 2001. BRICS is the international political organization of leading emerging economies

  12. From ‘bric’ to ‘briCS’ The grouping was originally known as ‘BRIC’ before the inclusion of South Africa in 2010. The BRIC became a mechanism through which the countries can exchange opinions, seek convergence , identify area of cooperation and influence the international agenda. Officially, it was admitted as a BRIC nation on 24 December 2010. With the entrance of South Africa, at the 3rd BRICS Summit in April 2011,the BRICS became BRICS became BRICS with capital ‘S’.

  13. OBJECTIVES OF BRICS To achieve Regional Development. To remove trade barriers. Economic Development. Build up relationship. Optimum use of resources. React to terrorism. To achieve the goals of New Development Bank.

  14. Why BRICS formed? BRICS is formed for following two reasons : To be Alternative to Word Bank and IMF to challenge US supremacy. To provide Self owned and self Managed Organization to carry out Developmental and Economical Plans in member nations without being dependent on any foreign agency. This point gets it strength on recent development in BRICS with the initiative of BRICS Bank.
