  8. Kosovo 2000 “Our mission was harnessing the tragic energy born of personal grief/loss and carry on the vision of helping victims of the Kosovo conflict in need of orthopedic care.”

  9. Fulfilling… • Rehabilitation centre built and equipped for disabled people • 32 social workers trained to work in 11 centres • Continuing to offer support by providing medical salaries

  10. Kazakhstan 2001 “Our mission is to reintegrate these children into their community once they become an adult, or at least to guarantee a dignified life to those who are unable to.”

  11. Fulfilling… • A centre created as a ‘family home’ for disabled & abandoned children • Multifunctional Centre project initiated to provide rehabilitation & education facilities • Promoting & organising a fostering project

  12. Democratic Republic of Congo 2003 “Our mission is to build and equip an operating theatre in the existing Yakamba hospital.”

  13. Fulfilling… • Construction of the operating theatre completed • Equipping the operating theatre • Ongoing support

  14. Zimbabwe 2002 • ZIMBABWE IS DYING OF AIDS • Every 4 in 10 people have AIDS • A person dies of AIDS every MINUTE • More than 1 in 5 children will be orphaned in 2010 • There are approx. 1 MILLION orphans in Zimbabwe due to the AIDS pandemic “Our mission is to collaborate with the Louisa Guidotti Hospital, which cares for 600 AIDS patients and children who have been orphaned, abandoned and abused.”

  15. Fulfilling… 2002 Provided medical treatment to 150 patients 2003 400 patients under treatment 2004 600 patients under treatment & support of 200 mothers on the PMTCT PLUS programme…

  16. 2005… By raising £100,000 tonight = 200 additionalmothers & their children under the PMTCT PLUS programme

  17. Wouldn’t it be great if we succeed? Wouldn’t it be great if we could bring the total number of lives saved to 1000?

  18. “No funding is wasted” We operate with no overheads or middlemen We visit the locations where the funds are being utilised to save lives

  19. So many people, real people whom • “we” have met, • Are kept alive • Can go back to their families and work Because of YOU!
