  7. 4. Curriculum Overview Grade One is conducted entirely in French.The emphasis is on Reading and Writing. By the end of Grade 1, the students are capable of reading short novels and writing short texts.   8. 4. Curriculum Overview • TFS has been formally authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to teach both the PYP and MYP. Homework and Dictées • Homework is not to be stressful or overwork; neither for your child nor for yourself; it is essentially a review of what has been done during the week in order to reinforce prior knowledge. • Homework in grade 1 should not take more than 10 minutes in the first term, 20 in the second and 30 minutes in the 3rd term. • Mostly reading activities with one book to read each night starting next week, the spelling activity will resume after the november break. • The homework sheet is posted weekly on the class website and work will be given in the homework folder alongside the sheet to be signed by parents to acknowledge you checked your child’s work. • file://localhost/Users/clebel/Desktop/Devoir 30 Sept. 2013.doc
