  2. Then • Often refers to time/ order of events. • Used as an adjective, noun, adverb, and is sometimes found in idioms.

  3. Examples of Then • We have not been back since then. • Once we checked every mirror, then it was time to drive. • They do not like turtles, but then they like squirrels? INCORRECT EXAMPLE • The way I make a PB&J is I put peanut butter then Jelly.

  4. Confusions of Then and Than • The last sentence “they do not like turtles, but then they like squirrels” is tricky. • Might think it is a comparison • Re-word it “They prefer squirrels rather than turtles.”

  5. Than • The word than is usually used as a comparison. • It is most often seen with comparatives, and words like more, less and fewer. Greater THAN Or Equal To

  6. Examples of Than • I would rather sleep in a bed than on the couch. • Craig is smarter than Peter INCORRECT EXAMPLE • When it was dark, we heard a scream than we ran.
