  1. End of Course (EOC) Spring 2013

  2. End-of-Course Overview • EOC assessments establish a common rigor for core courses. • Current EOC assessments are for courses which are high school graduation requirements. • ALG II, Biology, ENG II, U.S. History

  3. Changes to EOC - Reports • Score reports may be created in one PDF for all students or one student report at a time. To view ALL STUDENTS To view INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS

  4. Changes to EOC – CR • EOC constructed response (CR) items moved to local administration (instead of state) in February 2013. • EOC testingwas the first time Kentucky has tried to blend a state accountability model with a local school grading model.  The results of the test must support both grading and accountability. • The CR items did not provide feedback and instructional information. EOC CRs did not support local grading due to the amount of time required to score. • JCPS issued a District approach to maintain use of the CRs in instruction and formative assessment. ·

  5. Changes to EOC - cr • CRs may be administered at a different time than the required multiple-choice sessions. • Mid-term exam, final exam, proficiency exams • The Kentucky Board of Education may decide in the future to develop regulatory language to require the inclusion of CRs.

  6. Changes to EOC – CR • KDE will be monitoring inclusion of CRs in its annual EOC survey. ·

  7. Changes to EOCwindow #6 - summer school • Computer based administration for ALL students • ONLY exception is for accommodations Paper/Pencil ONLY Computer Based Extended Time Paraphrasing Manipulatives Prompting/Cueing Behavior Modification Interpreter (sign language) Dictionaries/Thesauri • R = Reader • A = Audio • B = Braille • LP = Large Print • Scribe

  8. Changes to EOCwindow #6 - summer school • Digital Technology will be working with schools testing in EOC #6 to ensure all machines are ready for computer based testing. • Digital Technology and the Testing Unit will provide support throughout the test window.

  9. Changes to EOCPre-Printed Materials • Pre-printed books will now be used • Answer documents will be perforated pages within the test book • BE CAREFUL - If an answer document is torn while being removed from the test book, you will need to VOID it and bubble a blank answer document. (Voided materials MUST be listed on an Irregularity Report) • Algebra reference sheets will be perforated pages within the test book • Errors on pre-printed student information • Do not edit • Make corrections online within QualityCore roster • No pre-printed book • Add new students to the QualityCore roster • Bubble demographics into a blank book

  10. Changes to EOCPre-Printed Materials • Headers • Pre-printed School Header • Pre-printed Group Headers • Headers will come with information pre-printed but NOT bubbled • You DO NOT need to bubble the pre-printed information • You WILL need to bubble in the: • Test dates (BOTH) • Quality Core bubble • Answer Document count • If you use a blank header: • You WILL need to bubble ALL information IMPORTANT Not on your handout

  11. Changes to EOCPre-Printed Materials • If you move a student from one roster to another after the materials have been printed you will NOT be able to use the pre-printed materials. • Materials are printed with roster information connected to the barcode. • Moving a student and using the pre-printed materials WILL delay scoring. • If you need to move a student to a different roster DO NOT use the pre-printed book, instead you will need to bubble the students demographics on a blank book.

  12. Changes to EOCPre-Printed Materials • Unused pre-printed materials • NO LONGER need to be voided • NO LONGER need to be listed on an Irregularity Report • Leave the answer document inside the pre-printed book • Remove the student from the QualityCore roster • Return the unused book with nonscorable materials in your content boxes • BE SURE THAT SCORABLE ANSWER DOCUMENTS DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY GET MIXED IN WITH NONSCORABLESAS THIS WILL DELAY SCORING

  13. EOC Scores to Letter Grades • A psychometric study linking QualityCore® results (scale scores) of multiple-choice scores to student class grades was developed using Kentucky scores. • JCPS used the same grading scale as last year.

  14. EOC PROFICIENCY SCORES • A performance level score (N, A, P or D) will be assigned for accountability purposes. • The NAPD scale will not be connected to the letter grade.

  15. Traditional vs. Non-Traditional Students

  16. Traditional vs. Non-Traditional Settings 10 Day Traditional Flexible (Non-Traditional) May test at any time during the larger window. Each content area must be completed in 1 day per student.
