  2. Narrator #1: • Welcome parents, teachers, and friends to our spring concert here at Marlboro Elementary School.

  3. Narrator #2: • Throughout our program today we will be sharing with you some of what we learned this year about music. So buckle up, and away we go!

  4. (Kindergarten) Narrator #3: • Our first song is “The Noble Duke of York”. While singing this song we learned that the melody of a song can go up or down. We can use our ears to tell if it is going up or down.

  5. (Kindergarten) Narrator #4: • The word melody means the tune of any song.

  6. K song: “The noble Duke of York” Oh, the noble Duke of York He had ten thousand men He Marched them up to the top of the hill And he Marched them down again.

  7. K song: “The Noble Duke of York” And when they were up they were up. And when they were down they were down. And when they were only half way up They were neither up nor down.

  8. K song: “The Noble Duke of York” Oh a hunting we will go A-hunting we will go. We’ll catch a fox and put him in a box And then we’ll let him go.

  9. (Kindergarten) Narrator #5: • This year we have learned how to keep a steady beat with our bodies and on instruments. The beat of the song is what you can march to.

  10. (Kindergarten) Narrator #6: • We sang many songs that helped us keep a steady beat. We are really good at it now! Our next song is “Jump Down, Turn Around”.

  11. K song: “Jump Down, Turn Around” We’re gonna jump down, turn around get your body moving. Jump down, turn around everybody dance. Jump down, turn around get your body moving. Jump down, turn around, everybody dance.

  18. (First Grade) Narrator #7: • In first grade we learned that music can have different tempos and dynamics.

  19. (First Grade) Narrator #8: • Tempo is how fast or slow a song is. Dynamics is how loud or soft a song is. Our first song is “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”.

  20. 1st Grade Song: “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” You’ve got a friend in me You’ve got a friend in me. When the road looks rough ahead And you’re miles and miles from your nice warm bed. You just remember what your old pal said. Son, you’ve got a friend in me. Yeah, you’ve got a friend in me.

  22. (First Grade) Narrator #9: • We also learned about the different families of instruments in the orchestra. There are woodwinds, brass, string, and percussion.

  23. (First Grade) Narrator #10: • Our next song is called “I’m Letting it Go”. This song is about letting go of bad feelings so that we can share happy feelings with everyone around us.

  24. 1st Grade song: “I’m Letting it Go” Bye, bye, negative. Bye, bye, negative. Bye, bye, negative. Negative bye, bye, bye.

  25. 1st Grade song: “I’m Letting it Go” Don’t want the hurt. Don’t want the anger. I’m ready to be free. I claim my power. My finest hour. I’m doing it for me.

  31. (second grade) Narrator #11: • In second grade, we’ve learned about solfege syllables and their hand signs.

  32. (second grade) Narrator #12: • The solfege syllables are the notes we can use to write or sing a melody. Our first song helped us learn our solfege. It is “Do, Re, Mi”.

  33. 2nd grade song: “Do, Re, Mi” Let’s start at the very beginning. A very good place to start. When we read we begin with A, B, C. When we sing we being with Do, Re, Mi. The first three notes just happen to be, Do, Re, Mi. Do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti…

  34. 2nd Grade song: “Do, Re, Mi” Do a deer, a female deer. Re, a drop of falling sun. Mi, a name a call myself. Fa, a long, long, way to run. So, a needle pulling thread. La, a note to follow so. Ti, a drink with jam and bread. That will bring us back to Do

  35. (second grade) Narrator #13: • In second grade we also learned how to read and play rhythms.

  36. (second grade) Narrator #14: • Our next song is called “Start your day with a song”.

  37. 2nd grade song: “Start Your Day with a song” Start your day with a song. Let the world sing along. Start your day, start your day with a song. Start your day with a tune. Sing at dawn, sing at noon. Start your day, start your day with a tune.

  38. 2nd grade song: “Start Your Day with a song” Through the stormy weather, music helps you smile. Keep on singing through it, you’ll weather it in style!

  42. (third grade) Narrator #15: • In third grade we learned how to play recorders and we started to read music.

  43. (third grade) Narrator #16: • We learned quarter note and half note, and B, A, and G. This recorder song uses those notes. It is “Hot, Cross Buns”.

  44. 3rd grade recorder song: Hot Cross Buns B, A, G--- B, A, G--- G, G, G, G A, A, A, A B, A, G--- (repeat)

  45. (third Grade) Narrator #17: • In March, we also learned about Seussical the musical, to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. This song is called the “Seussical Mega Mix” because it has small sections out of four different songs from Seussical the musical.

  46. (third grade) Narrator #18: • Thank you all for coming to our concert. We hope you enjoyed the performance. Have a great afternoon!
