  2. THE GOAL: Is to ensure a decent income for farmers (1960 Agricultural Policy Law) • THE MEANS: Economic market management • FRAMEWORK FOR ACTION: The 1975 Law amended by the 1980 Agricultural Policy Law is the reference legislation governing inter-professional organisations

  3. Features of the Inter-professional Organisations • Private organisations (associations or unions) bringing together the partners upstream and downstream of an agri-food network dealing with a product or a group of products • The organisation of the professional organisations that best represent agricultural production and/or processing and distribution

  4. The Goals of the Inter-Professional Organisations  The signing of inter-professional agreements whose goals are to: • Define and promote contracting policies between members • Contribute to market management (improved product adaptation and promotion) • Reinforce food safety (traceability, and so on)

  5. The Aims • Knowledge of supply and demand • Adaptation and regularisation of supply • Implementation of rules on marketing, pricing and payment terms • Product Quality • Product promotional policy

  6. Financing - Mandatory Voluntary Levies The Voluntary Levies of the agri-food network operators, provided for in the inter-professional agreement are made Mandatory by the Public Authorities (the acronym CVO now used for the levies)
