December Meeting “Model-Based Systems Engineering in the Logistics Support Services Domain” Speakers: Robin Blyth and Nick Monk Boeing Defence United Kingdom Analysts Date & Location: 6 December 2012, Boeing Building 305, Conf Rm 190A Lunch 11:00 a.m. - Presentation: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Abstract: Robin and Nick are analysts in the Logistics Network Enabled Capability (LogNEC) Delivery Partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence. Robin is the program lead for defining and building the Enterprise Architecture that creates and captures the artefacts needed to execute the MBSE process. Nick is a recent university graduate who is responsible for working with domain Subject Matter Experts to build the business processes and capture the artifacts needed to developed the to-be solution concept architecture using the IBM Rational System Architect with Simulator Add-On toolset. They will be describing how the MBSE process is being implemented and how the toolset is being utilized to enable the execution of the process and capture the artefacts. Biography: Robin has over 12 years experience working in the SE and software domain as an Enterprise Architect and team lead for cryptographic systems design, development and delivery to several customers. His main responsibilities included leading design reviews, managing design documentation, defining and maintaining work packages and ensuring that software components are designed/traced to requirements within Doors. He holds a university degree from Swansea University in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Nick joined BDUK just over two months ago having recently graduated from a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bristol. Nick’s focus at university included simulation of a satellite’s orbit, the optimization of the design for a launch vehicle, and building simulation software to calculate the precise direction and velocity of turbulent structures within a jet flow.
