1. Create a detailed plan Whether you’re planning to add on an extra bedroom, bathroom or guest room, you’ll need to plan it meticulously and begin by making sure that the addition will fit within your property’s boundaries. Next, be sure to check with your local government as to what restrictions may apply to extending your home. Once you’ve established whether you’re permitted to carry out an addition project on your home, you should make sure that the planned construction work won’t interfere with utility lines or pipes.
