  3. Volunteers: All Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. If you are under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult or guardian during their initial visit. Anyone who wishes to volunteer must come to the shelter and fill out an application and take a tour. What a wonderful way to spend a few hours a day, taking care of these loving animals.

  7. Each week we have a dog of the week and a cat of the week which we feature on our website, (www.petpalanimalshelter.com) This week our Dog of the Week is Jubilee, she is a 7 month old Coonhound/Plott Hound mix. Jubilee loves to run, jump and play. She is spayed, vaccinated and Micro-chipped. This week our Cat of the Week is Jerry, He is a 10 year old Domestic Medium Hair cat. He is a calm, senior citizen who loves to be loved, especially rubbed under his chin and neck. Jerry would prefer a home without small children. He is neutered, vaccinated and Micro-chipped.

  8. You need to own a home to adopt some of our dogs: Certain breed and considered “dangerous breeds”. While we know that this is a stereotype, insurance companies won’t insure, so landlords won’t allow. Additionally, hound dogs are not good in apartments due to their vocalizations.

  9. Please stop by 405 22nd Street S., St. Petersburg and take one of these cuties home today. Anatole France said it best: “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains un-awakened.”
