  3. Before the interview • Know something about the company • What do they make? • Who are their customers/clientele? • Have they been in the news recently? • What are current industry trends?

  4. Preparation Reduces Anxiety • We just want to “get to know you” • Why do you want to work for us? • What are your plans for the future? • Fit and compatibility • Strengths and weaknesses? Give us details and examples! • What about the technical stuff?

  5. What shall I wear? • Conservative suit • Fits well • Comfortable • Minimal makeup or jewelry • No perfume or cologne

  6. What to bring? • Resume • Leather portfolio/pen • List of questions to ask

  7. First impressions count • Firm hand shake! • Call the interviewer by name – build rapport • Two Minute Drill

  8. Confidence vs. Arrogance • Cite examples of your success • Never be negative or critical of past employers • Avoid personal problems (family, finances, failures)

  9. What now? • After the interview, thank the interviewer and express your interest (if you are!) • Send a thank you letter or e-mail • “Don’t call us, we’ll call you” • Research your next interview
