Course Overview Class website: http://courses.washington.edu/b511/Biost511DL.html Grading (CEU): • Online quizzes [10 points each ‐ 4 quizzes, lowest score dropped] 30% • Project (CEU) 50% • Homeworks [8 or 9 assigments, one can be dropped] 20% Grading (Credit): • Grading will follow the curriculum as the non-DL students. (Please see the course website for details).
Assumed Prior Knowledge • Statistics • None • You may need to unlearn some things you have been taught. • Mathematics • Proficient in high school algebra
Course Overview Textbook: • Baldi and Moore (2012, 2nd ed.): The Practice of Statistics in the Life Sciences • Classical organization • Course organization will follow closely • Used primarily as a reference • Great for working additional practice problems/exercises • 1st edition should be okay, too.
